How does a hotspot work?
A hotspot is a mobile internet device. It works by pulling in a signal from nearby network towers. You’ll have a stronger signal if you’re in an area where multiple network towers are located. The stronger your signal the more reliable your connection will be. Check coverage for your GSMT or your CMAS SIM card at https://www.karmamobility.com/coverage.
Not sure which one you have? GSMT SIM cards begin with 89012 and CDMAS SIM cards begin with 89011.
Once acquired, your hotspot then broadcasts this signal locally, allowing you to connect a WiFi-capable device (like a computer, tablet, or smartphone) to the network. Once you're connected to the network, you can browse the internet on your computer, your tablet, your phone, or whatever WiFI-capable product you're using with your hotspot.
How to start using one?
For most hotspot devices, getting started is simple:
- Turn the hotspot device on.
- Locate the WiFi network on the device you plan to connect with (for example, your laptop, desktop computer, tablet, etc.).
- Enter the hotspot’s WiFi password.
